First Naseeb event in Calgary
A recap of our first Calgary event, what surprised us, the feedback we got, and why we are even more convinced real connections happen in real life.
We just hosted our first in-person singles event for Muslims here in Calgary and, honestly, we did not know exactly what to expect.
We knew there was interest because so many people had signed up, but seeing the event sell out in just a few hours still caught our attention. It was a strong signal that people are looking for something more intentional than the usual app experience.
We invited a curated group of guys and girls, brought everyone together in person, and let the evening do what apps usually cannot: create space for real conversation.
What stood out right away
The best part was seeing everyone actually talk. No swiping. No screens. Just people meeting face to face and getting to know each other in a normal setting.
People walked in as strangers, and real conversations started happening. That is the part that matters most to us. When the room is curated well and the environment feels relaxed, things open up naturally.
The feedback was better than we expected
We got amazing feedback after the event. People loved the fact that it felt intentional, calm, and different from the usual ways of meeting. The whole point of Naseeb is to make introductions feel more human again, and that is exactly what people responded to.
It also confirmed something we already believed: real connections happen in real life. You learn more from one honest in-person conversation than you do from weeks of texting someone on an app.
What we learned from the first event
The event reinforced how important curation is. It is not just about putting people in the same room. It is about bringing together the right group, in the right setting, with the right energy. That is where the value is.
It also gave us more confidence in the direction we are taking with Naseeb. People do want a marriage-first way to meet that feels grounded, social, and real.
What happens next
Our next Calgary event is planned for after Ramadan and Eid. We are already working on the next round of invites, and if the first event was any sign, spots will go quickly.
